The Seniors at Home Village at Dunlap Phase 1 construction is complete! We now have 19 new homeowners in 16 units, with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. The streets were recently paved, and curbs, sidewalks, and driveways are going in starting today. We plan to have the finishing touches in by the first part of September.
Our groundbreaking ceremony was held for all of Phase 1 on Monday, August 10. We had several special guests from Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati, Citizens Tri-County Bank, Tennessee Housing Development Agency, Southeast Tennessee Development District, the Sequatchie County Sheriff's office, the Sequatchie County/Dunlap Chamber of Commerce, Congressman Lincoln Davis' office, plus lots of friends and family members. Special music was provided by Amber Cooper, granddaughter of a homeowner, and the Sequatchie County Trustee band. The flag was presented by the University of Tennessee Chattanooga ROTC Color Guard. With almost perfect, HOT weather, it was an awesome event, and we enjoyed mingling and touring homes after the ceremony.
John Byczkowski from FHLB of Cincinnati presented Glenn Barker from CTCB and Russell Meade from NHC with a "check" and announced that a grant from FHLB of Cincinnati has been awarded for Phase 2 of this development. Construction will begin in the next week for the first 2 houses, and when Phase 2 is completed, there will be a total of 14 more units in place.
We will post pictures of our event in the next few days.
If anyone is interested in volunteering for Phase 2 of this project, we have a need for construction workers, hospitality (meals, water, snacks), help with home visits or office work, and drivers who can transport the trustees. We appreciate everyone who has made this project successful, and hope to see you again soon!
